Application Notes:
Bakuchiol works as an anti-inflammatory and an antioxidant so those who suffer from dry, sensitive skin and can't tolerate retinoids can use in all cosmetics.
- Lipophilic Compatibility: Blends seamlessly with numerous vegetable oils and lipid-based emollients. Completely insoluble in water or water-soluble mediums
- Phase Integration: Designed for direct incorporation into the oily phase of a batch.
- Processing Flexibility: High thermal resistance allows for seamless addition in both hot and cold manufacturing processes
- Stability & Storage: Photostable but opaque packaging is recommended. Is a viscous liquid at room temperature and should ideally be stored in our original container at +10 to +30°C.
- Organoleptics: Has a faint characteristic smell that will not affect the final product at the recommended concentrations.
- pH Range: To be formulated within the acidic pH range (<6.5). Users are advised to check the pH range for all other ingredients as well.
- Incompatible with aluminum, sodium and potassium hydroxides. Iron or Copper ions can affect the color of a product with NuBiRetin. These metal ions may be present in water and may also be produced by UV radiation.

Safety & Toxicology
- Bakuchiol has an excellent safety profile and was shown to be non-irritating and non-sensitizing based on reconstituted human skin testing; It has no photo- or hydrolytic stability issues, and thus can be used throughout the day.
Bakuchiol has a few extra benefits over retinoids that are worth mentioning:
- It is a potent antioxidant It is anti-inflammatory, which might be beneficial for acne and similar skin concerns and might help in reducing the side effects of application
- It is photostable, which is why it is safe to use in the mornings and in sunlight. Retinoids react with UV-light, so their use is limited.
- It is always vegan. Some retinoids might come from animal sources. For vegans and people who can’t tolerate retinoid products though, Bakuchiol might be a great alternative indeed.
